Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, HE Hisham Al Madhloum, President of Sharjah Literature and Art Department, HE Marwan Al Sarkal, CEO Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), HE Mohammed Khalaf, Director of Sharjah Radio and Television at SMC, in addition to the participating designers at the exhibition and media representatives.

Curated by the Emirati designer Khulood Thani, the exhibition featured a unique collection of artworks which examined the UAE’s complex cultural heritage through the medium of traditional fashion and accessories. as part of the exhibition, Items on display included: women and menswear, fashion photography, textile design and installation among many others.

The choice to select deconstruction as the central technique for the exhibition was driven by the very analytical elements of the process. Deconstruction in fashion challenges traditional ideas of fashion and instead suggests a rethinking of the function and meaning of the item of clothing.

A recurring motif of deconstruction fashion is the reversal of the relation between the body and the garment, with the pieces calling attention to the mechanics of their production and thus encouraging analysis.
