With the 21st edition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) coming to an end, there are plenty of events and sales taking place this weekend for tourists and residents to enjoy and take part of.  Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of Dubai Tourism, shares the best places to be this weekend, including final sales, a concert, family events and chances to win instant prizes.

1- Dubai Festival City Mall

Shoppers at Dubai Festival City Mall during the closing weekend of DSS will be able to enjoy a host of activities such as a performance by the ‘World Champion Beatbox Group” and a visit by the children’s favorite character, Modhesh.  Families who head to Robinsons will be able to enjoy a variety of workshops available for kids and parents. In addition, Poca & Poca will introduce an exclusive collection for Robinson’s customers presented by the Bahraini artist Hala Al Turk on Saturday 4th August at 6 pm. Those who purchase an item from the collection can attend the event, followed by a free live performance at the mall promenade at 8:30 pm.

This weekend will offer the final chance for children to meet their favorite characters from IMG Worlds of Adventure at the Dubai Mall stage. The characters will appear every 40 minutes from 4pm to 10pm daily with characters like Iron Man, Thor, Spider-Man, Black Widow (Marvel), Ben10 (Cartoon Network) and Dinosaurs (Lost Valley) keeping the kids entertained.

4- Surprise Telephone Booth

Shoppers who visit Dubai Mall this weekend are encouraged to keep a listen out for the DSS telephone booth as there are a whole host of prizes to be won. Those who hear the telephone booth ringing should race to pick up the receiver and answer a special question from the mysterious voice on the other end of the line. Correctly answered questions will win people instant rewards from some of their favorite brands.

 5- Scratch and win at La Mer

Shoppers who spend AED250 this weekend at the beachfront destination La Mer will get a scratch-and-win card with prizes including family passes to the newly opened Laguna Waterpark and discounts from participating retail and F&B outlets.

6- Shop to win at Ibn Battuta Mall

Shoppers at Ibn Battuta Mall will be able to take part in some fun circus-style carnival games for a chance to win instant prizes. Those who spend more than AED200 in any of the mall’s stores will receive an entry ticket to the carnival games in Egypt Court and Persia Court. Those who win can take home a plush toy and those who lose will get a raffle ticket to enter into the DSS draw and win from 20 fantastic weekly prizes and even have the chance to win a brand new Audi A4 car.

7- Kids can create the city of future

Kids who go to the second floor near The Grand Atrium at The Dubai Mall this weekend can create their very own city of the future. Using the colored building blocks, potential future architects, city planners, artists and designers – and their families – can develop a city using Lego to represent energy flows, nature zones, transport infrastructure, and buildings.
