Complex Made Simple

Dubai’s cultural heritage takes centre stage

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) signs a memorandum with Dubai Culture to better promote the emirate’s cultural side.

In accordance with Dubai’s strategies, the two entities will work together to promote the cultural heritage of the emirate and include it in its tourism packages.

“DTCM has always worked hand in hand with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and this MoU serves to formalise our partnership. In addition to supporting the growth of arts and the appreciation of the emirate’s heritage through increasing public awareness in Dubai, DTCM will maximise our efforts to encourage the implementation of cultural initiatives internationally through our 20 overseas offices,” said His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, director general of DTCM, in a statement.

The cultural heritage of the emirate is something that will be taught to tour guides and travel companies through series of trainings, enabling them to broadcast the right message to visitors.

“The MoU underlines our shared vision with DTCM to enhance collaboration across various government entities for achieving our goal of establishing the city as a regional and global business and leisure hub. This partnership will help in implementing shared projects and initiatives between both entities, which will support Dubai’s strategic approach. We are confident that the MoU will play an integral role in celebrating the uniqueness of the city across all spectrums,” explains, in a statement, His Excellency Saeed Al Nabooda, acting director general of Dubai Culture.

With Dubai gearing up for the Expo 2020, it is almost certain that this initiative is the first of many.
