Apple and Ferrari celebrate the first operational Carplay interface integrated to one of the Italian manufacturer’s models.
“CarPlay has been designed from the ground up to provide drivers with an incredible experience using their iPhone in the car,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPhone and iOS product marketing, in a statement. “iPhone users always want their content at their fingertips and CarPlay lets drivers use their iPhone in the car with minimised distraction. We have an amazing lineup of auto partners rolling out CarPlay.”
Carplay offers the opportunity to drivers to access their content, message, emails and make phone calls safely through a touch and voice-activated interface. This technology allows the users to control their phones vocally and check the information through a large screen incorporated in the car’s dashboard.
“The first FF equipped with the Apple CarPlay system has gone to an Italian client. Deliveries of the Ferraris sporting the innovative integrated Apple technology commenced over the last few days and the cars are now arriving at their final destinations and will hit the road all over the world,” explains the Italian manufacturer in a statement.
Apple has been integrating their consumer technology in cars and computers for a long time, but this is the first time the brand does it with a luxury carmaker. Following the announcement of the gold Apple Watch Edition, we can definitely sense that the Cupertino-based giant is looking to tap into the luxury market.
