Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), also known as the ‘Oscars of watchmaking’, will be held on October 29 at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Switzerland.
Timepieces from the industry’s top maisons and independent brands have made it to the shortlist of nominees for the several awards to be won.
The 72 pre-selected pieces travel to several cities around the world before making it to the final destination in Geneva.
This year, the last stop for the travelling GPHG exhibition was Dubai, where the pieces were showcased at the inaugural Dubai Watch Week, a five-day event revolving around the history and art of Swiss watchmaking.
The event was held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and supported by Dubai Culture. It was organised by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, a leading retailer of watches in the emirate.
In addition to the GPHG exhibition, Dubai Watch Week held another presentation, Rebels of Horology, showcasing novelties created by independent watchmakers.
