At a ceremony held in Warsaw, Poland, Grégoire Berger was named the 10th best chef in the world from a list of 300 internationally renowned Chefs.
The Best Chef Award is a project by TBC MediaCorp and is one of the biggest chef competitions globally, aiming to champion the top 300 chefs in the world, celebrating their talent, individuality and culinary flair.
Grégoire Berger, the French-trained Chef de Cuisine at Ossiano, Atlantis, The Palm, was selected based on a criterion assessing the nominees’ use of innovative techniques and artistic presentation. With a competitive list of 300 chefs to beat, Berger joins the top 10 list, compiled of some of the most respected culinary talents in the world. This includes three star Michelin chef, Joan Roca of El Celler de Can Roca, awarded best restaurant in the world by Restaurant Magazine, two star Michelin chef, Alex Atala , head chef of D.O.M in Sao Paulo, coined 4th best restaurant in the world by the S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants and three star Michelin chef, Yannick Alléno who has a restaurant ‘Stay’ at the One&Only The Palm, Dubai.
As Dubai is yet to claim a spot in the world-renowned Michelin Guide, the positioning of Berger amongst some of the most ‘star’ rich chefs in the world, is demonstrative of the level of finesse and culinary expertise that go into each and every one of his dishes. It’s also yet another acknowledgment of Berger’s unwavering efforts in establishing Ossiano as the ultimate fine dining location for food aficionados in the Middle East.

The entries for The Best Chef Awards are selected and judged by a panel of global bloggers, journalists, photographers, other distinguished chefs, and 30 per cent of the final selection is driven by the awards vast social media following.
To date, Berger has set the precedent for the culinary scene in Dubai with his innovative ideas and use of exceptional techniques and quality ingredients, which have played a major role in him being heralded as the most acclaimed chef in the city, earning more awards that any other chef over the past two years.
n 2016, Chef Berger was awarded the winner of the Middle East and Africa region for the S. Pellegrino Young Chef Award, and went to represent the MEA region at the finals in Milan in November 2016. In the last quarter of 2016, he was also awarded Best Chef and Specialty Seafood Chef at the Pro Chef Awards and Young Hotelier of The Year 2016 at Hotelier Middle East Awards.
In August 2017, Ossiano and Chef Berger hit the global scale for awards, winning Best Luxury Seafood Restaurant (Global winner) at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards 2017. 2017 also saw the award-winning chef take the title as Head Chef of The Year at the Hospitality Awards which were hosted at one of Dubai’s largest F&B expos, Gulf Host.
Prior to joining Atlantis, The Palm, Chef Berger worked as Chef de Cuisine of Reign in Dubai’s DIFC, La Grande Cascade in Paris, France, Club 20-1 in Casablanca, Morocco, Le Bistro de Paris in Florida as well as various other notable culinary roles in France.
