Top-tier Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen shares a collection of five fine timepieces – the perfect father’s day present for someone with a taste for the finer things in life.
Portugieser Perpetual Calendar (IW503401):
This automatic movement timepiece boasts a moon phase display, a four-digit year display and a seven-day power reserve. The moon phase display depicts a star-studded night sky, with the main elements – the moon and the stars – hovering in the seemingly infinite space.
The case of this watch has been crafted with 18-carat while gold and comes with a black alligator leather strap, on IWC-manufactured calibre and Pellaton winding.
Portofino Hand-wound Eight Days (IW510106):
This timepiece is regarded as the star of the Portofino family, featuring a new calibre movement manufactured and developed by IWC. It also boasts a long eight-day power reserve display. Aesthetically, the watch is available in a stainless steel case with a blue-coloured strap.
Big Pilot’s Watch (IW500901):
The Big Pilot’s Watch possesses the calibre 51111, the biggest movement manufactured by IWC. In virtually no time, this timepiece builds up energy for a power reserve of more than seven days, before stopping after exactly 168 hours to ensure the same precision throughout the entire time in which it is running. The movement is protected and preserved inside a soft-iron cage, enclosed within the 46mm stainless steel case of the watch. This cage protects the movements from any magnetic fields it may be exposed to.
Aquatimer Automatic 2000 (IW358002):
This timepiece continues IWC’s tradition of manufacturing watches that withstand extraordinary high pressures: it is water-resistant to 200 bar, making it the perfect wristwatch for fathers still leading an active lifestyle. As we are in the summer season, diving becomes an escape from the hot weather and this is where this timepiece comes in handy for both professional and amateur divers.
Stemming from its theme, the Aquatimer Automatic 2000 features the rugged IWC 80110 calibre with the Pellaton winding system, all enclosed in a resistant titanium case, which features a minimalist design.
Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month (IW379201):
When this timepiece made its debut, it reaffirmed IWC’s reputation as a material pioneer in the watchmaking industry. The case of the watch is made of titanium aluminide and features a black rubber strap with alligator leather inlay.
When it comes to functionality, the perpetual calendar takes the 29th day of February into account every four years and promises to remain accurate until 2100, making this watch truly a timeless machine.
