Complex Made Simple

Jaeger-LeCoultre artistic tribute to Van Gogh

This year marks the 125th anniversary of Vincent Van Gogh, the famous Dutch post-impressionist painter.

To mark the occasion, luxury Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre is paying tribute to the artist’s legacy by releasing a limited-edition of its Reverso à Eclipse watch, featuring Sunflowers, one of Van Gogh’s most iconic paintings.

Only five pieces were created, each featuring the painting in enamel on the dial of the pink gold watch. The painting remains hidden behind the shutters of the dial, appearing when these are opened through a simple hand gesture.

The small collection was created in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum and the paintings were created by Dutch painter Gassan.

The Museum, located in Amsterdam, is also home to the original painting, which dates back to 1889.

The Reverso, which feature the manufacture Calibre 849, has been the watch of choice to pay tributes to other artists, featuring masterpieces on its dial or case-back.

The celebratory edition of the Reverso will be shown at the museum starting September 4, when it will also officially inaugurate its new building entrance.
