London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015, taking place from September 12 to 16 at Somerset House, will comprise a dedicated area for Estethica.
Founded in 2007 by the British Fashion Council – along with Orsola de Castro and Filippo Ricci, co-founders of green labels From Somewhere and Reclaim to Wear, Estethica supports more than 100 designers from 20-plus countries and will promote sustainable fashion at the London Fashion Week.
“Estethica celebrates designers that are committed to the future – the future of fashion, the future of the environment, and the future of textile production and manufacturing,” says Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, in a press statement.
Estethica designers stay true to one of the three principles of fair-trade and ethical practices, organic and recycled materials, and are chosen for both their ethical credentials and design qualities.
“The British Fashion Council is always looking for ways to encourage fashion that is sustainable and aims to implement positive fashion values across all of its pillars and initiatives,” Rush adds.
Along with dedicated tags for designers that adhere to Estethica’s beliefs, it will also have its own showroom to display eco-friendly designs of emerging talents, such as Flavia La Rocca’s ready-to-wear collection; knitwear by Katie Jones; sportswear by Louise De Testa; a hand-knitted collection by Wool and the Gang; and, an installation by multi-media artist Alex Noble.
