He is best known for winning several high-profile film awards after playing the world-famous physicist Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
But after winning his first Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (on his first-ever nomination, that too), a Golden Globe Award for Lead Actor in Motion Picture – Drama, a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role and a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, Redmayne continues to move higher and higher, moving from one success to the next.
Most recently, the extraordinary young talent was announced as an international brand ambassador for luxury Swiss watchmaker OMEGA, a title that he celebrated earlier this week at an intimate VIP dinner with the brand and its friends in London.
Some of the renowned UK talents and VIPS who joined the celebration included Chiwetel Ejiofor – who won the BAFTA for Best Actor in a Leading Role and was also nominated for a Best Actor Oscar in 2013 for 12 Years a Slave – and Dan Stevens, best known for his lead role as Matthew Crawley in the acclaimed television series Downton Abbey.
During the event, OMEGA’s president, Stephen Urquhart, was asked why Redmayne makes a perfect partner to the brand, known for its high status in the Swiss watches industry. In a simple response, Urquhart noted that the young star has always carried himself with an elegance and integrity that is inspiring to all ages and is quite humble about his success – qualities which embody and represent the overall spirit of OMEGA.
With this partnership, Redmayne joins other high-profile OMEGA ambassadors, including George Clooney, Daniel Craig, Nicole Kidman, Rory McIlroy and Cindy Crawford.
