Workspace International’s UBIQUE Majlis concept has been selected as one of the four finalists of the 2015 Majlis Design Competition at INDEX, Dubai’s annual trade exhibition for the textile, furniture and interior design and manufacturing industries.
The award winning interior design company Workspace International will introduce its concept UBIQUE Majlis at INDEX exhibition in May.
The competition celebrates its 7th year with a theme “Light Years Ahead” and invites design professionals to rethink the “majlis” meaning place of sitting in Arabic by giving it a contemporary, avantgarde and alternate perspective.
“The Majlis is a traditional feature of Arabic interior design and plays a significant role in Arab culture and heritage. Designing majlis in a new way was a very exciting and rewarding project for us,” said Kenny Hytönen, Head Designer of Workspace International. “Ubique is a latin word meaning everywhere. As our world is becoming more and more virtual, our UBIQUE majlis is a place where we can come together to be here and everywhere at the same time,” Hytönen explained the concept that will be revealed on the first day of the exhibition.
INDEX exhibition takes place from the 18th to 21st May in Dubai World Trade Center. The winner of the Judges Choice Award will be chosen by the panel of judges on the first day, and the People’s Choice Award will be announced on the last day of the exhibition, as a result of visitor voting. “We look forward to INDEX and to showcasing our majlis and interacting with the visitors,” Hytönen concluded.
