Alissar joins Endeavor network

Jordanian entrepreneurs, Charif, Alissar and Ghassan Mzayek of Alissar, have been selected to join the Endeavor Network during the 56th International Selection Panel (ISP), which was held between 8 and 10 December, 2014, in Miami. The siblings were selected as three of 40 High-Impact Entrepreneurs representing 22 companies from 13 countries.

The ISP is the culmination of a rigorous multi-step selection process through which Endeavor identifies High-Impact Entrepreneurs who initiate private sector development, create thousands of jobs and build sustainable growth models in their home countries.

Endeavor Entrepreneurs are selected by top local and international business leaders, Silicon Valley venture capital executives and Endeavor Network members from 22 countries, including Jordan. After admitting entrepreneurs into the Network, Endeavor provides them with customized services delivered by local business mentors, volunteers from Fortune 500 companies, consulting firms and top US business schools.

“Alissar is a prime example of a successful family business that has been handed down from generation to generation, steadily expanding its operations and product lines in Jordan and beyond. We are delighted to welcome Charif, Alissar and Ghassan to the growing Endeavor Network, and are confident that their unique experience will add great value and will serve as an inspiration for emerging business owners across all industries,” said Rasha Manna, Managing Director of Endeavor Jordan.

In turn, Alissar CEO Charif Mzayek, commented, “To have our hard work recognized by a leading global organization as Endeavor is a distinct honor and an invaluable opportunity for us to share with aspiring entrepreneurs the in-depth expertise and knowledge we have garnered throughout the years. We look forward to working closely with Endeavor Jordan as we continue to scale our business.”

Alissar started as a small neighborhood flower shop founded by Hadi and Malvina Mzayek in 1979 in Amman. The Mzayek siblings joined the family business in the 1990’s, helping grow Alissar from a single retail outlet selling floral arrangements and indoor plants, to a market leader that revolutionized the flower industry in Jordan and beyond. In 1985, Alissar expanded its business into production, and today provides a wide variety of high-quality floricultural products and services. Since 2013, it has operated under four distinct product lines: B2B, which involves custom floral arrangements, mainly for luxury and high end hotels; B2C, which includes three retail shops in Jordan and Dubai, as well as a wedding and event service; Agribusiness, which entails planting material supplies; and Production, which consists of wholesale flower sale.

Charif, Alissar and Ghassan are three of 24 Jordanian Entrepreneurs representing various industries to be selected by Endeavor Jordan since its establishment in the Kingdom in 2009. On a global scale, Endeavor currently supports 1,030 High-Impact Entrepreneurs from 651 companies in 22 countries.
