As part of its efforts to support youth and prepare them for the labour market, Tamkeen has announced the commencement of the third year edition of Tamkeen’s “Mashroo3i” Youth Business Awards competition.
The competition targets Bahraini youth between the ages of 15-26 and aims to raise awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship amongst Bahrainis. Throughout the competition, 12 prominent entrepreneurs will be guiding the teams in formulating their business plans and projects.
Selected teams will formulate and prepare business plans for innovative products and services throughout a number of phases, which will culminate with a public exhibition displaying the best business ideas. This year’s edition of the programme will have applicants undergo a training phase prior to the business planning phase of the competition, which aims to provide contestants with insight on the basic skills of business planning. Submitted business plans by participating teams will be evaluated by a judging panel of experienced Bahraini entrepreneurs.
Tamkeen’s “Mashroo3i” Youth business Award will select three winners in eight different categories , who will be given networking opportunities with potential investors, incubation opportunities for up to one year as well as internship opportunities.
Commenting on the announcement, Tamkeen’s Chief Operating Officer Ms. Amal Al Kooheji said: “Tamkeen has always believed in fostering entrepreneurial passion in Bahrain’s youth. Popular programmes such as Mashroo3i act as a means for young Bahrainis to unleash and transform their ideas into tangible realities and thus contributing to the development and growth of the Kingdom’s economy. With the impressive variety of mentors and teams in this year’s edition, we look forward to seeing the innovation presented by this year’s participants and wish them all the best of luck.”
Over 200 applications have been received and are currently being evaluated. Following a presentation by the applicants, 60 teams will proceed to compete for the final rounds.
