The Innovation Team of Dubai Customs has devised a smart mechanism to interact with and better respond to the ideas lodged through the Mohammed bin Rashid Smart Majlis.
Thanks to such a mechanism, the team has been able to efficiently evaluate all presented ideas in a timely manner and give its feedback to the majlis as to whether those ideas are feasible or not.
The process is essentially based on prompt responsiveness via fast internal communication amongst team members, whereby they can determine the competent department to evaluate each suggested idea and immediately forward it to the experts, who – after a thorough review – identify the idea’s feasibility and applicability. Subsequently, Dubai Customs informs the majlis of its readiness to execute feasible, applicable ideas, so the council would approve them for execution.
“The Dubai Customs’ senior management closely monitors the responsiveness of the Innovation Team to MBR Smart Majlis ideas. We devised accurate standards and set fixed deadlines for departments to assess ideas and take a swift decision in this respect. The team, overseen by the Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department, works 24/7 with all departments to ensure a quick response to the majlis, ” said Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs.
“MBR Smart Majlis serves as a bridge for ideas from the vast public inside the UAE and abroad. It is now a major driver in our quest to achieve Dubai’s regional and international leadership and attract more traders and investors to the emirate,” he added.
Shedding more light on the role of the Innovation Team, the Director of DC Strategy and Corporate Excellence Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim said, “The team consists of 46 ambassadors of innovation from across Dubai Customs, all tasked with constant tracking of ideas lodged through the majlis. The senior management has channelled all directors to promptly handle ideas and deliver an expert opinion on each and every one of them.
“To ensure optimal utilization of the MBR Smart Majlis facility, the team follows the action plan, devised by the leadership team, to the letter. The plan has specified the processes and overall follow-up mechanisms that ensure Dubai Customs is an active contributor to the success of the majlis.”
The Manager of Suggestions and Complaints Section at Dubai Customs Hussein Al Fardan underscored that “Dubai Customs’ ambassadors of innovation are fully geared towards following up on any idea with the competent department to ensure it is handled without any delay.”
Dubai Customs is leading the way in making valuable contributions to the success of the Majlis, by calling upon all employees and the public at large to come forward with their ideas and be part of Dubai’s overall development drive.
During the majlis’s first week, five employees from Dubai Customs stole the spotlight with their ideas being a approved for implementation by the majlis. They were deservedly honoured for that by DC Director Ahmed Mahboob Musabih.
