The Sultanate of Oman will host the 2nd Cleantech Oman International Forum on 1 March 2015 at Grand Hyatt, Muscat. The Forum is endorsed by Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) and the official media is Muscat Daily. The forum is designed to focus on five core areas: Clean Technology in: Waste Management, Energy & Resources, Green IT & E-Waste Management, Infrastructure & Green Building, Avenues for Sustainable Development.
The Opening session will focus on Cleantech; Waste Management with notable speakers including Sheikh Mohammed Sulaiman Al Harthy – Executive Vice President – Strategic Development Sector SDS of Oman Environmental Services Holding Company SAOC (Be’ah) presenting on “Waste Management in the Sultanate of Oman” with joint panelist Mr. Hilal Al Noumani – Executive Vice President – Municipal Waste. Dr. Ahmed Al Busaidi – Professor at Sultan Qaboos University will present on “Municipal Wastes; Application and Assessment” and Professor Steve Halls from Sohar University – Environmental Research Centre on “Creating jobs and value from reorganizing waste resources”. The Waste Management sector holds enormous opportunities for further development and creation of wealth from waste and employment.
The Second Session will focus on Cleantech; Energy & Resources with notable speakers including Mr. Gauthier Dupont – Director & Regional Leader in Clean Energy & Sustainability presenting on Energy Management. Prof. Dr. Ing Michael Modigell – Rector of GU Tech – German University of Technology and Head of Chair of Mechanical Process Engineering at RWTH – Aachen University on Biosolar Hydrogen Production.
The Forum will have a session on Cleantech; Green IT and E-Waste Management by Ms. Sangeetha Sridhar of Information Technology Authority (ITA). The session for Cleantech; Infrastructure & Green Building will have award-winning research presented by Dr. Walid Abdul Malik Thanone – Dean on Eco House Design at Nizwa University and Ms. Rowa Al Zain – Researcher at German University of Technology GU Tech on Eco House Project. These fine research findings are for the future of Sustainable Urbanization and breakthrough in Construction development in the Sultanate of Oman. The Country has started witnessing many government projects in Hotels and Public Buildings with world famous green credentials.
The event will help raise awareness, evaluate current trends, and participants will learn and discuss the potential use of clean technology in all public, private and government sector dealings with a view to minimizing impact on the environment. Cleantech is Oman’s only clean technology forum that aims to focus on clean technology Buildings have make a mark for developing projects which classify them as Green Buildings. Ms. Charlot Nalankilli of Caledonian College will present on “Possibility of Sustainable Land use in Oman and its impact on energy & environment”.
