Al Tayer explores cooperation with Italian Ambassador to UAE

The Italian Ambassador praised the comprehensive development witnessed by Dubai in a record time rendering it a focal point for investors, business leaders and tourists.

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has recently received in this office HE Liborio Stilino, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to the UAE.

The meeting, which was attended by Yousef Al Rida, CEO of Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, discussed means of boosting joint cooperation between the RTA and Italian companies operating in road & transportation systems. Discussions also covered ways and means of furthering these relationships and benefiting from the expertise of both parties.

Al Tayer briefed the Italian diplomat about the key projects the RTA is intending to undertake in the near future to consolidate the transport infrastructure in terms of roads, and transit systems involving the construction & operation of rail projects costing billions of dirhams. “These projects are highlighted by Route 2020 for the extension of the Red Line of the Dubai Metro to the site of Expo 2020, extension of the Green Line of Dubai Metro, and Phase II of the Dubai Tram project. Future projects offer a great opportunity for companies to bid for the tenders released by the RTA,” stated Al Tayer.

He expressed hope to see more cooperation and transfer of expertise between Italian firms and the RTA in constructing and managing the infrastructure of roads and transport sectors.
