Authority claims hotel occupancy in Beirut up to 88%

Pierre El Ashkar, president of Lebanon's Union of Hotel Owners has said occupancy at hotels in Beirut has reached 88% following the recent formation of a new government, Kuna has reported. Hotels in the country offer up to 20,000 rooms, with plans set to build up to 3,000 more soon, he said. Last year, tourism revenues reached $7.5bn, around 20% of the national income.
