Bahrain to invite firms to study rail project

Bahrain's ministry of works is set to invite international firms to carry out detailed studies for a planned local rail network project estimated to cost at least BD3bn ($7.96bn), Arabic Al Wasat has reported. The studies include economic feasibility and financial studies as well as studies to determine the number of the network users and the possible participation of the private sector, Huda Fakhro, director of the roads department at the ministry, said. The ministry will launch the project's design tender once the 2011/2012 public budget is approved, she said.
