There is nothing it seems Careem won’t deliver today. The company inaugurated a new inter-city service between Bahrain and Saudi, just as it did in the UAE and Egypt. The company is hiring for key positions and is displaying its prowess by sharing global stats on its expanding business.
As it turns out, it is delivering anything from shopping items to gifts and cooked food between family and friends.
Bahrain Saudi corridor
Dubai’s Careem, which is owned by Uber, has introduced a ride-hailing service between Bahrain and Saudi, it was recently announced.
Users can book a car for a one-way journey from Bahrain to a number of Saudi cities, including Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail, Buqaiq, Hufof, and Riyadh, with fares starting from $198.
Bahrain and Saudi have strong ongoing commercial relations with non-oil trade between them rising 18% to $781 million during the second quarter of the year.
Saudi trade accounted for around half of Bahrain’s total trade with the GCC, according to the latest figures from Bahrain’s eGovernment and Information Authority.
The intercity service was first piloted in the UAE and Egypt, and the vehicles can carry up to five passengers for each trip.
In October 2020, Careem launched a new City to City service that transport Dubai residents to any address in Abu Dhabi. More than 62,000 customers in the UAE are now using this service.
In January 2020, Careem launched a fixed-price inter-city travel service in Egypt.
Careem is hiring
Careem recently announced vacancies for over 100 positions in the UAE and GCC.
“Careem is recruiting continuously and has nearly doubled its team since mid-2020. We currently have 100 job openings in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar,” the company said in an early July statement.
“Careem began its remote recruitment efforts at the end of 2020. Careem Engineering is specifically looking for a very specific pool of talent, such as mobile engineers (IOS and Android) and background engineers in data science/machine learning,” the statement said.
As per media reports, the company currently has about 1,400 employees, still some ways from its pre-pandemic level of around 1,700.
Job seekers who wish to apply for jobs on offer can submit their resume/CV on the Careem Group’s official website.
The Careem convenience
Careem has teamed up with JustMop to offer PCR tests in just a few taps from the comfort of your home, office, or hotel room in Dubai.
Via the Careem app, users can select ‘PCR test’ which will then redirect them to JustMop where they can quickly and easily schedule what day and time they’d like their test to be done.
An individual test costs Dhs199 per person – Dhs49 more expensive than the Dhs150 capped tests at government-approved testing facilities across the city – or Dhs189 per person ($55) when booking for a group of three or more.
Promising to take a maximum of 15 minutes per person, a licensed DHA technician will come to your chosen location on your chosen day and time, equipped with all the required materials.
Within 24 hours, you’ll receive a DHA-approved and accredited result along with a report that can be used for traveling.
The convenient service is available to residents and tourists alike.
