Bird strike threat to ME airports

Lord Ingenierie is pushing its green laser technology as a means for airports to reduce bird strikes and their associated costs. The company claims that with passenger traffic on the rise, so does the threat of bird strikes when planes are in the vicinity of the airport. The lasers sweep airport runways to scare away birds during take off and landing. Bird strikes cost the US civil aviation industry over $600m a year. The International Civil Aviation Organisation says 90% of bird strikes occur at or near airports during take-off or landing.
