The Kingdom of Bahrain’s Central Informatics Organisation (CIO) and Gulf Business Machines (GBM), the region’s leading provider of customized IT solutions, recently commemorated a 25-year-long partnership of progress and achievements in Bahrain’s ICT sector.

The ceremony celebrated CIO and GBM’s strong partnership and was well attended by many high-level executives. During the event, Abdulla Ishaq, the general manager of Bahrain Business Machines (BBM), GBM’s Bahrain office, awarded Dr. Al Amer, the president of CIO, a plaque of appreciation for the long-standing partnership between both organisations.

“Throughout the years GBM has continued to be a valuable partner to CIO. GBM and CIO have many upcoming projects that will advance Bahrain’s ICT sector even further. We are excited to share our future IT plans with our staff and customers,” stated Abhdulla Ishaq, general manager for BBM.

Following accepting CIO’s award, Dr. Al Amer expressed his appreciation for GBM’s kind gesture that symbolized their partnership, and he also expressed his sincere desire to strengthen their ties in the future. Dr. Al Amer mentioned how CIO and GBM’s projects positively contributed to the development of Bahrain’s ICT capabilities throughout the duration of their work. Subsequently, the partnership has successfully stimulated economic growth in various sectors in Bahrain.

GBM worked closely with CIO and the Government of Bahrain to develop and support Bahrain’s ‘eGovernment’ initiatives. Bahrain’s eGovernment, which was the only Arab nation to win a FutureGov Award in 2012, was supported by GBM to launch several IT projects. These successful joint projects included the installation of the ‘IP Telephony’ in all Bahraini Ministries and Municipality, the implementation of advanced IT infrastructures in government hospitals and the execution of offering a variety of eServices, which helped increase customer satisfaction in both private and public sectors.

The event was attended by CIO’s President, Dr. Al Amer, CIO’s General Director of Identity and Population Register, Nazih Al Jowder, and CIO’s Director of Computer Operations, Mohammed Khalifa Al Yasi. Also in attendance were GBM’s General Manager, Abdulla Ishaq, and GBM’s Executive Director of Intelligent Network Solutions, Hani Nofal. Other guests included customers and guests who have witnessed the early stages of the CIO and GBM partnership.
