DP World in race for India’s JNPT expansion deal

India's Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has said eight firms, including DP World, Adani Ports and Essar Ports, have evinced interest in building the fourth terminal at the country's largest port, PTI has reported. "We opened the request for qualifications yesterday and a total of eight companies have applied," said JNPT deputy chairman, N N Kumar. It will take about 10 days to scrutinise the documents submitted by the companies, according to Kumar, after which it will be decided if they qualify to bid or not. Following the qualification, the selected candidates will have to take a security clearance from the Union home ministry, he added.
