DTC expands fleet with 20 hybrid taxis

Dubai Taxi Corp (DTC) has announced the addition of 20 hybrid vehicles to its fleet, as part of a plan to reduce pollution caused by vehicles emissions and making them environmental-friendly in the emirate, Gulf Today has reported. The new cars consume 33% less fuel and will also reduce carbon emissions by 33%, compared with conventional vehicles. The taxis were provided by Al Futtaim Motors Co, which has been testing hybrid vehicles with the RTA from 2008 and found out that they "have been driven for more than 55,000km without breakdowns or major maintenance (required)," said CEO of Dubai Taxi, Ahmad Mohammed Al Hammadi.
