Dubai Airport records 71 million passengers in 11 months

Indian subcontinent bagged first place in terms of passenger traffic, boosted by growing demand and launch of new routes

The number of passengers passing through Dubai International Airport (DXB) in November 2015 jumped by eight per cent to a total of 6.4 million, compared with 5.56mn passengers during the same period in the past year.

A report issued by Dubai Airports showed that the total number of passengers using DXB during the 11 months of 2015 increased to roughly 71m, up by 10.9 per cent compared with more than 63.97m passengers in the same period of 2014.

In November, the Indian subcontinent bagged the first place in terms of passenger traffic recording more than 160,647 passengers, boosted by growing demand and the launch of new routes, including Spice Jet’s services to Kozhikode and Amritsar.

The GCC came in second place with more than 129,210 passengers, followed by Western Europe (65,198), and North America (58,314).

In terms of percentage growth, Eastern Europe was the strongest market, recording roughly 29.7 per cent, followed by North America at 27.7 per cent.
