The number of passengers passing through Dubai International Airport (DXB) in October jumped by 4.4 per cent to a total of 6.1 million, compared with 5.98m passengers during the same period last year.
The number of passengers using DXB during the period January-October 2015 increased to roughly 65m, up 11.2 per cent compared with the same period of 2014, Dubai Airports revealed.
The movement of aircraft rose to 34,917 last October, an increase of 6.5 per cent compared with 32,798 movements recorded during the same month of 2014, Aliqtisadi reports.
Eastern Europe has seen the highest growth in passenger traffic, up by 55.4 per cent in October 2014, followed by North America (19.4 per cent) as a result of additional flights by Emirates to both New York and Seattle, and then Africa by 7.8 per cent.
Air cargo volume through DXB amounted to 215,714 tonnes, compared with 200,435 tonnes in October – an increase of 7.6 per cent.
