Dubai Police to launch tyre safety campaign

The Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology is set to begin by next September the implementation of a new rule that makes it the responsibility of retailers to fit the required standard of tyres on vehicles, Gulf News has reported. "It will be aimed at retail stores to protect consumers," said Kevin Jones, managing director, Al Futtaim auto centres. "The regulations will include how long the tyres can be stored for, how long they can be used as well as using temperature ratings properly. These standards will then be reinforced at the time of renewing your car registration."
