Duqm fishing harbour to be ready by 2016

The Omani agriculture and fisheries ministry has said a major fishing harbour in Duqm, the country’s largest, is expected to be ready by 2016, Times of Oman has reported. The port would accommodate not only Omani fleets but also fleets from other countries passing through the Indian Ocean, said Hamed Said Al Oufi, undersecretary of fisheries wealth. “The cost of the project will be more than OR35m and the construction is expected to start this year,” he said.
