Egypt pilots stage sit-in over army mandate

About 150 Egyptian pilots have staged a sit-in demanding a civilian technocrat to be appointed as a minister of aviation in any new cabinet, Ahram has reported. The pilots vowed to escalate their sit-in if a minster who comes from the Armed Forces is chosen by Hisham Qandil, the newly-appointed prime minister. The last aviation minister appointed by former president, Hosni Mubarak, was a former commander of the Egyptian Air Force, Ahmed Shafiq. Hussein Massoud, the current minister of aviation is also a former officer in the Air Force.
