Egypt’s ministry of tourism plans to offer more facilities to attract larger number of Saudi tourists in the next stage, reveals the country’s ministry of tourism.
Work is underway to make Egypt, which has been impacted by the Russian airliner crash, the main destination for Saudi tourists and visitors, Hisham Za’zou, Egypt’s minister of tourism, said.
The number of Saudi tourists who visited Egypt in the past 11 months of the current year surged to 450,000, compared with 300,000 in the same period last year.
In terms of spending, a Saudi tourist spends five times more than other foreign tourists, the minister indicated in remarks published by Al Eqtisadiah.
He added that the Saudi tourist’s stay averaged 21 nights compared with ten nights for tourists of other nationalities. The minister spoke about packages that start from $50 a night per person.
According to the minister, Arab tourists accounted for 16 per cent or 1.5 million of the total number of tourists who visited the country in 2014.
