For the second consecutive year, Dubai-based airline Emirates ranked first in the YouGov BrandIndex 2019 Workforce Rankings, soaring well over tech giants Apple, Google and Samsung as the brand that UAE residents are proudest to work for.
YouGov has a daily brand tracker called BrandIndex that has been asking respondents through the last year whether they are proud or embarrassed about working with a specific brand. This helps each brand build a "reputation score" that then leads to these yearly Workforce Rankings.
Apple climbed up two spots from last year to seal the No. 2 spot this year … and just in case you're wondering what it's like to work there, the innovative tech giant has job openings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi! Apple just opened up its April job listings – and multiple jobs are available across retail and corporate.
Samsung, which will be launching its much-anticipated Galaxy Fold phone soon, climbed a spot to make it fifth-most proud brand to work for, while Dubai Mall and Almarai also stepped up a rung on the ladder.
Google dropped from second to fifth year-on-year and Emaar slipped from fourth place in 2018 to sixth in the 2019 rankings.
Looking at the brands that made the largest improvement in rankings, despite not being in the Top 10 brands employees are proud to work for, Warner Bros. World improved the most through the past year, with a +7.9 increase in its reputation scores. YouGov states that the Warner Bros. World theme park that opened to the public in Abu Dhabi last year received a positive reception, lifting its reputation scores.
Netflix, one of the world's most-eyeballed streaming service announced expansion plans in the UAE in the first quarter of this year. The streaming service, which launched in the UAE in 2016 has had quite an impact in the region with healthy growth in subscribers.
