FANR to highlight six years of achievement in Western Region public forum

To reach out to the public, FANR hosts a public forum in Western Region

The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) will host a public forum in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi on Tuesday 20 October 2015 to introduce residents to FANR’s role in ensuring the safe, secure and peaceful uses of nuclear energy in the UAE.

FANR hosts such forums as part of its efforts to inform UAE residents about the nation’s peaceful nuclear power programme and, in particular, to explain FANR’s role in nuclear safety, security and safeguards.

The Western Region forum is the fourth of five FANR is hosting this year; the first three drew large audiences in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Ain.

FANR believes that it is its corporate social responsibility to address the public and respond to its questions by hosting public forums around the UAE.

The upcoming forums will focus on the milestones achieved since the UAE’s nuclear regulator opened its doors in 2009. Committed to openness and transparency, FANR serves as the independent regulator of all nuclear-related activities in the UAE.

The forum will feature senior officials from various FANR departments who will discuss FANR’s regulatory work, scholarship and employment opportunities, and its responsibility within the nuclear programme.

Journalists are encouraged to attend the forum to learn more about FANR’s important role. FANR will be pleased to make its officials available for interviews.

The forum will be conducted in Arabic with simultaneous interpretation to English.
