GACA to fine airlines for delays

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) has said it is to impose a SR300 hourly fine per passenger on local airliners, who fail to inform travellers about flight changes 14 days in advance, Arab News has reported. Maximum compensation per passenger will be SR3,000, in addition to being given customer support within airport premises, the GACA said. Local airlines firms, however, will be exempt from fines if they prove that they have followed procedures to avoid the delay, it noted.
