General Motors’ Middle East sales rise 27% in May

General Motors Middle East has reported a 27% increase in sales to 12,800 vehicles in May, compared to the same period a year ago, driven by sales of Chevrolet passenger cars. Total sales of Chevrolet rose by 36% during the month, while sales of GMC experienced a 17% increase. GM retail sales rose 58% against May 2010 and represented 71% of the Middle East's total sales in the month. Year-to-date retail sales climbed by 52% for the first five months of 2011, the car maker said.
