Salman Sultan, PR & Social Media Manager, Jaguar Land Rover Middle East and North Africa, said the car was inspired by an ideal, “to move towards our ‘Destination Zero’ vision-a state of zero emissions, zero, accidents and zero congestion. I-PACE is our first step to achieving this, and it was conceived when EVs were little more than a niche choice. Zero emission of course means there are no emissions, zero congestion means that if you have a smart infrastructure and connected vehicles there will be zero congestion and zero accidents means obviously safer vehicles options and features.”

“The I-PACE is a bold move from us showing the world what we are capable of from an electrification point of view. I don’t think there is any car manufacturer out there who will deny the importance of electrification-its all about sustainability,” he added.

Is this a revolutionary car? Yes it is. The SUV’s ultra-modern 90kWh Lithium-ion battery uses 432 pouch cells to help the I-PACE offer a range of 470km (WLTP cycle). Owners will be able to achieve a 0-80 per cent battery charge in just 40-minutes using DC rapid charging (100kW), while home charging with an AC wall box (7kW) achieves the same state of charge in just over ten hours – perfect for overnight charging at home.

On the road, this beauty delivers exceptional performance of 400PS and 696Nm of torque – including all-wheel-drive and all-surface traction – powered by two Jaguar-designed electric motors at each axle. The high torque density and high-energy efficiency of these motors delivers sports car-like thrills, propelling the I-PACE from stationary to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

“The I-PACE is definitely a city car, although you can take it for some not-so-heavy terrain, desert drives as well. It is meant for people to take out on light adventures, because of its unique approach and departure angle. It’s not a land rover and it’s not a full-on defender vehicle, so it’s meant more for the city. At the end of the day, it’s a Jag, and Jags are known to be dynamic, comfortable vehicles,” Sultan pointed out.

How about cost? “The I-PACE starts at 385,000 AED (approximate) and we’re looking at its arrival in Dubai next year. Dubai is a major market in the UAE, in fact the top market for the Jaguar.”
