The region’s most popular family and entertainment park, Global Village has already attracted over 1 million visitors within one month of its opening. The park which opened on November 6th has witnessed a phenomenal response to its newly enhanced entertainment offerings, investment in new infrastructure and landscaping for the new season and the introduction of its new mascot GLOBO.
Now in its 19th season Global Village has always been committed to delivering a new and more spectacular offering to its local, region and international customers as its continues to reinforce its position as offering the best value fun packed family day out.
Commenting on the hugely successful first month of the current season, Global Village Chief Operating Officer Ahmed Hussain said: “It is clear that the enhancements we have made in Global Village infrastructure this season is already having a hugely positive impact with one million visitors already visiting the Park. It has been our most successful opening month to date and shows that the attraction of Global Village for families is as strong as ever. This season we are bigger and better than ever before and have added a further 330,000 square feet to the existing 2.7 million sq ft of space at Global Village – allowing us to introduce new landscape areas, a purpose built stage and to move the Fantasy Island funfair attraction to a new area.”
Ahmad Al Marri, Global Village Director of Operations, added: “Food remains a huge attraction for the park and this year we have created a separate dining area which houses 23 restaurants offering international cuisines. The layout has been designed in a way to ensure easy access from Fantasy Island area as well as the pavilions since it is connected by the canal. Each restaurant has its own seating facilities as well. Families are already telling us how they find the new location very convenient – be it after a round of shopping at the pavilions or after taking their children for rides at Fantasy Island.”
For this season there are now a total of nearly 50 rides and games at the enlarged Fantasy Island attractions. The new attractions at Global Village – Al Remal Pit, Prehistoric Oceanarium, Animal Land and Illumination World are already proving hugely popular by visiting families. For the 19th Season the introduction of the charismatic mascot GLOBO, who has his own range of branded merchandise and special GLOBO shows for children, has proved extremely popular. GLOBO has become the face that represents Global Village everywhere. The family entertainment on show also includes cultural dance events and acrobatic displays for families to enjoy. Global Village also offers big weekend concerts, which have some of the biggest names from the Arab and Asian entertainment industry, performing.
The recent celebrations at Global Village for National Day were exceptionally well received and brought in 250,000 visitors over the 5 day period. The highlight of the celebrations was the Dallah Project – a community driven event to awaken creativity among school children across the UAE. The response was overwhelming with nearly 15,000 children from across 100 schools participating in the hand-painting competition of Dallahs. Park visitors were also given a chance to partake in the Identity Dallah, which was a 6 ft Dallah where individuals could put their own fingerprint using a colour from the UAE National Flag.
Meanwhile as part of its ongoing CSR initiatives, the National Day celebrations also included the involvement of Global Village with the blood donation campaign My Blood, My Country, under the patronage of the Crown Prince of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Blood donors received free entry into Global Village as part of this initiative. Global Village has also aligned with programs to initiate the Emirati graduates into taking on key responsibilities and senior positions.
Ahmed Hussain, COO of Global Village added: “We are catering to a very global audience and the tremendous success of our first month of opening has also been thanks to the wholehearted support of the many Dubai Government departments who are working with Global Village to ensure its success.” “Global Village has also witnessed increases in Russian and Chinese visitors and is working closely with DTCM and local tour operators to boost the number of international tourists to Global Village. We are also totally aligned with the Government’s vision of helping to attract 20 million tourists a year to Dubai by 2020 and to also leverage the impact that hosting the Dubai 2020 EXPO will have on the city,” he concluded.
