GMC has announced 11 per cent year on year sales growth in Saudi Arabia for the month of February. GMC attributes the result to the popularity of the brand’s new, premium trucks and pickups and the continued growth seen across the auto industry.
“The auto industry in Saudi Arabia has seen consistent growth throughout 2014, and we will expect it to continue to do so,” said President and Managing Director of General Motors Middle East, Maurice Williams.
“The Saudi Arabia market is very important to us, and we’re pleased to see that both GMC and the industry are seeing healthy growth. Consumer demand for quality vehicles and premium customer service is driving customers towards GMC,” he added.
The models responsible for the growth are the all-new versions of GMC’s most popular vehicles: the Yukon and Yukon XL SUV and the Sierra pickup. The Yukon XL SUV did particularly well with 98 per cent more sales than February last year and the Sierra registered triple digit growth.
The internationally renowned, independently judged JD Power Dependability Awards recently named the Yukon and Sierra as the best large SUV and best large light duty pickup.
“The GMC brand resonates with our customers in Saudi Arabia. We share a long history, having first introduced GMC to the Middle East nearly 100 years ago. Since then, our premium SUVs, pickups and crossover vehicles have been collecting a loyal fan base,” said Williams.
“Many of our customers have grown up with the brand and they will pass their loyal love of our vehicles onto the next generation. However, it’s great to see that our all-new vehicles and services are capturing the hearts and minds of new customers in the Saudi Arabia market,” he added.
The growth in KSA reflects the popularity the brand is enjoying on a regional scale. GMC sales are also up 19 per cent across the Middle East.
