The Information Technology Authority held the third edition of its regular open meeting (Shurkum) to take public and specialists’ opinion about its plans and projects.
Shurkum event was held yesterday at Hilton Salalah Hotel, with the presence of the ITA Management team including Dr. Salim bin Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA.
Through this open meeting, the ITA seeks to raise awareness about its responsibilities and tasks to implement e.oman strategy and to introduce its projects and initiatives provided for the community. Hence, transparency and community eParticipation in the implementation of the ITA’s plans is very crucial to achieve e.oman strategy.
The Information Technology Authority through its work for the five coming years plan (2016 – 2020) to support the transition to the digital economy, and create jobs for Omanis, make daily life easier and more pleased for the citizens with the biggest industry of information and communication technology’s contribution to the gross economic of the Sultanate, and the increase demand for information and communication technology services.
The Authority is also working over the next five years to increase the efficiency of government services and the efficiency of business management services in the government.
Through the meeting, Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi proposed: “Some of the government entities have improved in their processes toward eTransformation and others need to work hard to improve their services and processes to ease daily transactions for the citizens and residents. Every year we evaluate the government entities’ work on eTransformation plan and we raise a report for the Ministerial Cabinet in order to issue their instruction for the entities to improve their work. By the end of 2015 and beginning of 2016 we will see more eServices coming out.”
The meeting witnessed a great interaction from the attendees as well as the ITA followers on social media networks; addressing their comments and suggestions to improve the Authority’s work as well as public wishes for better e.oman.
