This was highlighted on the sidelines of the 4th GCC-Morocco Investment Forum, which was held to explore investment prospects and business opportunities between the two regions, experts hailed the growing tourism industry which currently contributes nearly 9 per cent to the Kingdom’s GDP.
According to recent statistics, tourists from GCC countries spent around $418m in Morocco in 2013 alone. Killinger said Mazagan is recording highest footfall from GCC. To capitalize on this, the resort has designed tailored packages for tourists from the 6 GCC states.
“Our strategy is to make it easy for GCC tourists. We have collaborated with a number of airlines to reward tourists coming from GCC with mileage points that are redeemable with actual vouchers,” added Killinger. “Morocco is home to some acclaimed authentic cultural and architectural marvels, and the ambience inside Mazagan reflects this true heritage. The potential for cultural tourism in the country is really high and we expect this to be a major contributor to the inflow of tourists to Morocco,” he concluded.
