Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received more than six million passengers since the beginning of this year, reports Jordan-based Al Ghad newspaper.
Statistics for October issued by the Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the operation of QAIA, revealed that the airport witnessed a significant growth in annual cargo traffic by 6.5 per cent since the beginning of the year, compared with the same period of 2014.
According to the statistics, the airport recorded a decrease in the annual movement of passengers and aircraft numbers by the end of the summer and the travelling season, compared with the past year.
Since the beginning of this year, annual air cargo traffic has achieved a rise of 6.5 per cent to 82,316 tonnes, while annual passenger numbers have declined slightly by 0.8 per cent to 6.115 million.
Annual aircraft movements decreased by 2.9 per cent, registering 60,767 movements.
During October, QAIA received 578,867 passengers, down by 4.9 per cent compared with 608,605 passengers in the same month of 2014, while 6,129 aircraft movements were recorded, down by 6.3 per cent, compared with 6,540 movements during October 2014.
