Jordan’s tourism sector ‘beginning to rebound’

The Jordanian tourism minister, Nayef Fayez has said there were signs the kingdom's tourism sector has started rebounding in the first six months of 2012, after a year of decline in both revenues and visitor numbers, Jordan Times has reported. Revenues generated by the sector in the January-June period stood at JD1.207bn, up 19% from JD1.011bn in the same period last year, he said. Although visitor numbers continued to fall in the January-June period, they rose 8% last month, Fayez said, adding that the number of reservations is growing for the upcoming tourism season that starts in September.
