Kuwait Airways’ deal with Airbus may be postponed

A plan by Kuwait Airways to buy 25 new aircraft from Airbus may be postponed, as the state-owned carrier focuses on leasing planes instead, Al Qabas Arabic daily has reported, citing unnamed sources. The company's board has decided to separate the leasing and purchasing parts of the plan and would concentrate first on leasing an initial 20 aircraft by April 2014, the report said. Kuwait Airways may now consider bids for the rental contract from other companies such as Boeing, it said, adding that Airbus was expected to still be given priority.
