The value of the supply chain and logistics sector in the UAE amounted to approximately $25 billion, equivalent to roughly AED92bn at the end of 2015, according to the Dubai Chamber spokesman.
Dubai has established a sophisticated infrastructure of ports, airports, airlines and maritime transport lines in order to facilitate the operations of global supply chains, the spokesman adds.
The emirate’s focus on innovation and development contributes to the further growth of the global supply chain, Al Bayan reports.
Atiq Juma Nasib, senior vice-president, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber, says that industry leaders play an important role in leading the growth process in the country.
He adds: “This includes DP World, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai International Airport, Dubai World Central, Cargo Village and Port Rashid. Thus, it is not surprising that Dubai is becoming an important logistics centre. It supports the simplification and facilitation of international transport of goods and individuals.”
