Kung Hei Fat Choi! Majid Al Futtaim welcomed the ‘Year of the Sheep’ with a festive celebration at Mall of the Emirates.
The celebration, held at the mall’s Central Galleria, was attended by distinguished dignitaries and His Excellency Mr. Tang Weibin, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai, along with senior representatives from Majid Al Futtaim.
Chinese customs and traditions will continue to be represented through cultural performances hosted at the mall, creating great moments for everyone, every day until March 5:
•Umbrella Dance – one of the southern Han dynasty Chinese traditional dances signifying femininity and grace, with brightly-colored costumes and matching parasols.
•Fan dance – a form of folk dance dating back more than 2000 years, this dance celebrates movement and joy through graceful postures.
•Traditionally-dressed golden Chinese dolls representing a wealthy couple called JinTongYuNv who tour the mall to bring prosperity to shoppers, and are available for photo opportunities.
•Lion Dance – symbolizing the coming of the Spring, this dance is believed to bring good luck. Accompanied by drum beats and the sound of gongs, the 20-minute show sees dancers imitate the lion’s movements inside the elaborate animal’s costume.
In addition, Mall of the Emirates rolled out an exciting key partnership, rewarding shoppers with great incentives: a complimentary snow park pass at Ski Dubai for Union Pay card holders who spend Dhs5,000 on the card; and a chance to win Dhs10,000 cash prize, exclusively for Chinese shoppers, is given away daily with a minimum spend of Dhs1,000.
