Marriott International: Boosting the Saudi job market

* Marriott International has launched a new hospitality training programme in Saudi Arabia

* Tahseen provides 12 to 18-month training that exposes participants to business of running a hotel

* The program is open to Saudi University graduates


International hospitality company, Marriott International, has launched a new hospitality training programme in Saudi Arabia, to aid Saudi youth in pursuing successful careers in the country’s hospitality sector.

The programme, Tahseen, is regarded as an answer to the increasingly robust hospitality market in Saudi Arabia.

“Tahseen gives Marriott International the opportunity to create a paradigm shift in the perception of hospitality among Saudi nationals,” said Alex Kyriakidis, President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Marriott International.

“It responds to strong demand in the market for Saudi talent by showcasing careers in hospitality to the next generation of hoteliers, benefiting both Arab youth as well as the industry,” Kyriakidis added.

Full exposure to hospitality

Tahseen provides a 12- to 18-month training that fully exposes participants to the business of running a hotel, consequently resulting in managerial career opportunities.

It offers graduates six months of cross-exposure to all departments and six to 12 months of departmental specialization.  It also provides graduates access to Marriott International’s world renowned core management development programmes.

The programme is open to Saudi University graduates. It was developed in conjunction with key owner and partner DUR Hospitality, as well as Cornell University, INJAZ AL-Arab and Education for Employment.

In the beginning, the operator will appoint 50 Saudi nationals who have the experience and desire to work and develop in the hospitality industry. They will be enrolled in E-Cornell certificate programmes, combined with Cornell University’s executive leadership workshop delivered in the country, which is tailored to the local cultural and the business environment that is unique to the kingdom.

Tahseen hospitality training programme aims to the drive participation and interest of Arab youth through Marriott International’s world-class training, resulting in an increase of local Arab employment on the property.

The programme is customised for local Arab and will provide them with well-rounded hospitality training, while opening doors to a variety of career path options.
