Marriott scores fastest race time in Red Bull Soapbox Race #100:Amman

The hotels’ team took part in the event with their own custom-made soapbox vehicle, and was officially the fastest vehicle to cross the finish line in only 26.1 seconds.

Jordan Marriott Hotels participated in Jordan’s first ever Red Bull Soapbox Race, and the world’s 100th, which was held on Friday, September 4th.

The hotels’ team took part in the event with their own custom-made soapbox vehicle, and was officially the fastest vehicle to cross the finish line in only 26.1 seconds.

Red Bull Soapbox Race is an international event that welcomes people with amateur or professional driving skills, to participate with their own homemade creative vehicles and race them to their goal.

The Marriott team was committed and creative, starting with a car design that represented a hotel bed with its accessories of pillows and blankets. The hotels’ engineering crew excelled in building a light and fast soapbox vehicle from steel pipes and polystyrene with standards that helped the team leap, literally, across the finish line.

“It was a great opportunity to participate in such an initiative that is happening for the first time in Jordan, and I am incredibly proud of how the team poured their heart and soul into this race.” said Philip Papadopoulos, Country General Manager.

The event opened its gates to thousands of people who arrived to watch over 60 teams stream into the race with their own original creations. The crowds cheered and thundered while car after car raced down the track and others crashed. The sky was the limit in the creativity department, from a teeth shaped vehicle, a Batmobile to a Marriott bed; this Red Bull race was one that brought craziness, adrenaline and rush into the atmosphere.

The Red Bull Soapbox Race judging panel included radio presenter Mohammad Al-Wakeel, rally champion Faris Hijazi, basketball legend Ayman Idais, and Arab Superstar Diana Karazon. The hosts of the event were JBC radio’s Osama Jetawi, MBC’s Yaman Al Omari, and social media figure Zain Karazon. They scored the racers in three criteria: speed, performance and innovation.
