Number of tourists to Qatar grows 7 per cent

“Country expects to cross 3 million visitors by year end, reaching goal of 7 million visitors by 2030”

Qatar witnessed a seven per cent growth in the number of foreign visitors during the first half of 2015 compared with the same period in 2014, shows a report.

The summary report issued by the Qatar Tourism Authority about tourism performance during the first half of 2015 says that Qatar is on its way to crossing the barrier of three million visitors by the end of this year, reaching the goal of seven million visitors by 2030.

Data about hotels’ performance proves that there is a continued growth in demand for this sector, especially since the total occupancy rates have seen a further rise in growth since 2014, even with the addition of 1,400 hotel rooms since the beginning of 2015, reports Kuwait-based Alrai Media.

The report points out that the number of visitors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the largest source market for visitors to Qatar, has seen a significant increase of 16 per cent in the first half of 2015 compared with the same period of 2014.
