Oman hotels’ revenues exceed OMR131m

Visitors from the Gulf States (excluding Omanis) ranked first, followed by Indian, British and Omani nationalities

The number of tourists coming to the Sultanate of Oman reached roughly 1.9 million by the end of September 2015, according to statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The month of September recorded 275,000 visitors with an 85.1 per cent increase compared with September 2014, Oman-based Al Watan Newspaper reports.

Visitors from the Gulf States (excluding Omanis) ranked first with 52.4 per cent of the total during September 2015, with 144,000 visitors.

Indian, British and Omani nationalities ranked in second, third and fourth positions during same month with 11 per cent, 5.4 per cent and 5.2 per cent respectively.

Statistics indicate that the number of departing visitors (Departure Tourism) reached approximately 4.73m visitors until last September departing from the Sultanate, whereas this year, the month of September saw only 454,000 visitors with 9.5 per cent rise compared with the same month of 2014.

On the other hand, statistics show that the total hotel revenues (three- to five-stars) reached until the end of September OMR131.5 million, while the total number of guests reached 819,607.

Hotels’ revenues reached OMR13.217m in September compared with OMR13.574m last September, signalling a 2.6 per cent drop.
