Omantel looks to foreign contracts, licences

The chief executive of Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) has announced that the company is seeking operating licences and network building contracts abroad as competition in the sultanate's mobile telecom sector gets tougher, Reuters has reported. Amer Al-Rawas, the CEO of the state-owned telecom operator, has said that drivers right now for the company's growth and revenue is broadband, adding that Omantel is doubling the number of mobile broadband subscribers and home broadband DSL users
