Petra tourism authority sees 20% visitor boost

According to the data by Jordan's Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), the number of visitors to Petra rose 20% in May, compared with the same month last year, Jordan Times has reported. The figures showed a total of 65,858 people visited the Nabataean city last month, compared with 47,498 visitors last May 2011. Tourism revenues at the site also climbed in May by 24% to JD942,328 from JD760,236 in the same month last year, the data showed.
