Porsche 911 set for regional premiere at Dubai International Motor Show

The new 911 is an ideal of pure Porsche performance

Porsche’s unrivalled heritage of standard-setting automotive performance is set to shine at Dubai International Motor Show (DIMS) next month, as the new Porsche 911 prepares to make its regional debut at the prestigious motor show.

The 911 has been the world’s best-selling sports car for decades and now a new generation of Porsche’s iconic model has arrived in the Middle East. Taking centre stage at DIMS between November 10th to 14th, will be the 911 Carrera S, the exemplar model of a strong Porsche line-up this year.

Embodying the pinnacle of Porsche performance and driving dynamics, the new 911 model is well equipped to continue its reign as segment leader. With innovative turbo flat engines, an advanced chassis designed for optimum performance and a ground-breaking infotainment system, the legendary model continues to set the benchmark in performance, driving pleasure and efficiency.

Deesch Papke, Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE, commented: “The new 911 Carrera represents another milestone in Porsche’s unrivalled legacy of creating true sports cars for every day use, delivering the latest in motor sport technology in the comfort, safety and luxury of a road car. The iconic model has always been popular in the Middle East and we are excited to see it make its regional debut at the 2015 instalment of the Dubai International Motor Show. I have no doubt it will be one of the highlights of this year’s show.”

Thanks to more than four decades of experience with turbo engines – in both motor racing and production sports cars – the completely new engine generation with bi-turbo charging raises the emotional driving pleasure in the 911 Carrera to an even more intense level. An increase of 20 hp across all models, waiting to be unleashed and converted into sporty propulsion, delivers exceptional driving dynamics and, in line with the Porsche philosophy of delivering maximum output from minimum input, increased efficiency. Every new 911 benefits from efficiency enhancements of up to twelve percent, dependent on the model.

The new 911 is an ideal of pure Porsche performance and when equipped with PDK and Sport Chrono Package, both the 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S boast an improvement on previous models to their zero to 100 km/h time – sprinting to the speed in just 3.9 and 3.8 seconds respectively. This makes the 911 Carrera S and 4S the first 911 in the Carrera family to undercut the magic four second mark, propelling the iconic sports car into a new era of automotive capability.

Further defining the 911 Carrera as an everyday sports car, equally at home on the track as it is in the city, is the reengineered PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) chassis. Lowering the ride height by ten millimetres and equipped as standard on all Carrera models, the chassis improves stability without sacrificing agility and safety, whilst the active rear-axle steering, available as an option for the 911 Carrera S and adopted from the 911 Turbo and 911 GT3, offers further balance between everyday comfort and circuit performance.

When equipped with the Sport Chrono Package, the 911 Carrera features a new mode switch on the steering wheel. It consists of a rotary ring with four positions for choosing a driving mode, this includes: ‘Normal’, ‘Sport’, ‘Sport Plus’. By activating the fourth setting, called ‘Individual’, drivers can configure their own individual vehicle set-up, including PASM, active engine mounts, PDK shifting strategy and sports exhaust system.

In line with its unique history and iconic character that has remained authentic for more than 50 years, a range of exterior features have been refined. Enthusiasts can differentiate the new 911 Carrera from its predecessor by the new headlights with four-point daytime running lights, the redesigned rear lid with vertical louvres and the new rear lights, featuring the distinctive four-point brake lights.

In the interior, the updated Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a multi-touch display offers a considerably expanded range of functions and intuitive controls.

The new Porsche 911 Carrera will be on display at the Dubai International Motor Show from November 10th till 14th.
